Can proper hydration really change your life?

Picture this: You're in the middle of an intense hot yoga session or conquering your morning run, and suddenly, a throbbing headache strikes. Been there, done that! Dehydration headaches are no joke, and I've experienced their unwelcome visit firsthand. But here's the good news: by prioritizing hydration, we can prevent these pesky headaches and ensure we're at the top of our game during our workouts.

This story highlights the extreme side of dehydration, but did you know that even mild dehydration can affect your mood, your energy, your brain function, your focus, and your memory? And I don’t know about you, but I have big goals for this summer in my biz and life and I want to be energized and focused while I work on them.

Maybe you already know that staying hydrated is essential for your overall well-being, but it can also supercharge your performance! Proper hydration goes beyond quenching your thirst. It is the secret ingredient to maximizing your energy levels and taking your performance to new heights. From boosting cognitive functions and concentration to optimizing physical endurance and strength, hydration plays an important role in unleashing your full potential. Really, it's vital to the proper functioning of every cell in your body and their communication with one another.

As we are enjoying the summer season, whether that's in the current furnace of the southern European countries or in the wet and mild north (like me right now), it's a good time to remember how important it is to keep our hydration game strong. So let me share a few tips or reminders with you. You're welcome.

Tips to Stay Hydrated and Thrive this Summer 🌴🍹

  • Sip, Sip, Hooray: Make drinking water a habit throughout the day. Carry a reusable (preferably non-plastic) water bottle with you and take regular sips to stay hydrated. Remember, prevention is key!

  • Electrolyte Boost: When engaging in intense activities like hot yoga or running, consider replenishing electrolytes lost through sweat. Add a pinch of sea salt or enjoy a sports drink that can help restore balance.

  • Time it Right: Hydrate before, during, and after your workouts. Pre-hydrating sets a solid foundation, sipping during keeps you going, and post-workout hydration aids in recovery.

  • Listen to Your Body: Pay attention to the signals your body sends. Feeling thirsty? Reach for a glass of water. Experiencing headaches or fatigue? It might be a sign of dehydration, so hydrate immediately. Even hunger can be a sign that you need to get yo'self a drink mama (no not that kind, put the Margarita down.)

Hi Reader, I hope this email finds you well. It’s been a few months since my last newsletter, and I’ve got to be honest with you—it wasn’t because I didn’t have things to share. The longer I waited, the more I felt a growing sense of shame and embarrassment for not reaching out sooner. And as that feeling grew, so did the hesitancy to send this very email. But then, I had a moment of clarity. I recognized this as a pattern—one I’d immediately address if it were happening to one of my clients....

A few weeks ago, I found myself at an audition for a yoga teaching position in a studio. Despite having taught thousands of hours of yoga and knowing my capabilities as a teacher, the jitters were still present: my heart was beating faster, butterflies danced in my tummy, and my palms turned clammy. Sound familiar? But instead of letting them overwhelm me, I leaned into them. Why? Because I’ve learned that stress in these situations can actually be helpful. It’s a boost, sharpening focus and...

*PRE.S.:I've got something for you, and you only, dear email reader, at the bottom of this email. I'm opening up spots for you for my Coaching package. Scroll down for deets.* As February rolls in (yay to longer days!), I've been thinking about something warmer, something deeper than the usual Valentine’s Day buzz. How about we talk about something that nourishes us daily: our food? But I'm not just talking about food as nourishment; I'm talking about making healthier choices that reflect our...
